site stuff and job updates...

I downloaded a new forum script and a database conversion tool earlier today. As always I can't leave well enough alone when it comes to my site. But I'm being smart this time and downloading the database and making a temporary installation that won't affect my current forum if something goes wrong.
My forum currently uses phpBB 3 with a customized skin but I like a lot of the features of this new one so I want to give it a shot.
In other news, there is a brand new CVS Pharmacy opening in the other town so I applied for customer service there. I'm hoping to get either full or part time as an overnight cashier. I really hope it works out, but if not, I'm still staying positive...

court and job updates...

Well it turns out I didn't need to go to court. I called the collections department at the bank where I owed my debt and worked out a deal. The woman I spoke to went to the hearing on my behalf to tell the judge I'll be paying on it. I have to pay $40 a week. It shouldn't take too long to pay ift off.
On the job front, I applied for cashier at the Pilot Travel Center in another town and also CVS Pharmacy is hiring for "all positions" so I'm applying there this Friday. More people are slowly starting to hire again so I'm confident I'll land a job soon...

sad....

One of our cats, Powder, passed away a few days ago. We had him the longest, more than 2 years, and he was the first cat we ever had. He was a stray, and we used to feed Kit, his momma, and we started seeing him wobble up the stairs to eat with her. I'd make it a point to go out on the porch and hold him and pet him. One day he just walked right in our apartment and that was it.
He didn't seem sick, but we suddenly noticed his stomach was bulged. With no income we could not take him to the vet. We thought it would go away but a few days ago he died.....
My wife and I miss him dearly. He'd always talk to us with his unique meows and was very special. He is survived by 3 kittens and his brother Mist, so we make sure to give them all extra love...

court, jobs, and other musings...

Let's see, well I have to go to court on the 11th for a $116 debt at the bank I used to go to. A deputy served my mother in the law with the papers the other day. With the court fee, I owe like $179. Without a job I have no way of paying it. I can't ask Cindy cause she is already paying $500 to get my car out of the shop. I didn't have the balls to ask my mom cause she'd have said no and then lectured me for 30 minutes. So I'm just gonna go and tell the truth. I have not had a job for about a year. I might have a job very soon in which case the first thing I'll do is pay it off. I just hope the judge understands that I've filled out tonnes of applications, but have not been employed yet.
I'm hoping to get my car back next week but now the place that we pay on the car and the truck at sent a letter saying we are behind on the payments so I dunno. I know I'll get to work if I am hired, but I'd like my own car back.
Anyway, not much else going on right now. I just had some beef Ramen noddles, kernel corn, and Ritz crackers and now I need to clean the litter boxes....

McDonanld's?
Published on July 24th, 2009 @ 05:35:46 am , using 116 words, 339 views
It turns out the McDonald's in town is still hiring, and even had to close the 24 hour drive thru one night this week because there wasn't enough people to staff it. So I re-applied for the night shift and plan on calling them in the morning. If I play my cards right, I can get hired there. Hallmark is still up in the air too, and I should know something by next week.
I'm hoping to get my car out of the shop early next month after $600 worth of repairs. It needed a new fuel pump, but I'm confident it will run really good now.
Not much else going on, I am heading back to bed...

Hallmark job....

The interview could not be conducted on Thursday because my phone had a privacy block on it. I called their support line and had it re-sceduled to early next week and I also removed the block. At first I was pissed off, thinking they dropped the ball, but this was not the case. I also asked them if the job is still available and they said yes and I told them I was very very interested in it.
So we'll see what happens Tuesday now. I feel like my whole life is on hold until this is taken care of, and even things I normally find enjoyable are being put off....

nervous....

I'm getting pretty nervous about my Hallmark job interview on Thursday. It is on the phone and it seems like a big possibility but I've had such bad luck luck with jobs I can't help to worry it's not gonna work out.
I'm fucking giving up on Walmart. This is the third time in less than a year that I've been called, had interviews and everything, and then I'm not hired for some stupid reason. I had been updating my application once a month since the information only stays in their computer for that amount of time. But fuck it, I'm not updating it again.
If I'm hired at Hallmark, I'll start at no less $8.25 an hour, and even at part time, say 10 hours a week, that's still enough to get some broadband, make car payments, and buy groceries. During holidays I can get up to 20 hours a week.
I don't want to get too excited about it, but I'm getting to the end of my rope here. Something needs to change, and it needs to happen soon...

diet and exercise...

Heather and I are starting a diet and exercise routine and today is day one. She is going to eat strictly fruits and veggies and we are getting a membership to a local 24 hour gym. I'm cutting out most meats and junk food, including candy and fast food type stuff. We bought tonnes of fat free pretzels to snack on among other low or fat free foods.
When I get a job we are going to start buying a lot of vitamins and supplements including Green Tea Extract, Grape Seed Extract, Super Concentrated Cranberry, Garlic, Omega 3 fatty acids, and a multi-vitamin. We take some of them now but without a regular income it's hard to keep buying them.
I have my "phone interview" with Hallmark on Thursday so hopefully that will go well.
Nothing much else going on right now. We just got back from major grocery shopping with about $300 worth of food stamps and I'm fixin' to eat something. ![]()

car being repaired and Walmart updates...
Published on July 7th, 2009 @ 08:49:54 pm , using 159 words, 246 views
I had my car towed to the shop this morning. The fuel pump is bad on it and it will be $517 to get it repaired. I already gave the okay to fix it but it will be a month before I can pick it up. It's all good though cause I know it's gonna run a lot better. The past few months even the slightest hill and the car would lose power and I'd have to literally floor it. Or from a stand still it had no pick up. This repair will hopefully fix all that.
I called Walmart and they are still trying to get the Produce position opened up so it's still a big possibility. I'm gonna apply at a some more jobs today though in case it doesn't work out.
In other news, Heather is napping so it's my turn on the computer and I just finished a very tasty Asian rice and fried potatoes meal.

interview results...

I got to the interview about 10 minutes early and saw the manager pretty quick. It was two gentlemen, one about my age, and the other looked like in his 50's. The first thing they told me was that they almost canceled the interview because a "hiring freeze" was presented after it was scheduled. I got a tad discouraged until I was told that they are talking to the regional office to stress how much they need the position filled and wanted me to come in so they could get their impressions of me. That sounded more like what I wanted to hear. They didn't hesitate when they talked and I didn't sense any bullshit. They also said out of 75 applicants, they narrowed it down to 3, myself being one of them.
I talked briefly about my previous jobs and the regular shit like that as the older one asked me basic questions. We just stood there though because something was going on in the back offices and I was not allowed to be there. It was hard to understand the 50's man as the overhead speaker kept going off and people were walking around but I did my best and I hope I made a good impression with him.
After that guy, I'm assuming the store manager or an assistant at least, was finished, I shook his hand again and he said he would go call the regional office right now. I thanked him for that and the second man took me to the produce department where I'll (hopefully) be working and kinda showed me the ropes. Afterward he said it might be a week or two but they'll definitely get back to me. I shook his hand as well and left.
Overall I have a pretty good vibe about it and altho there is a chance I could not get hired, I'm still staying positive and am just waiting to see what happens next...
